Today brings the second instalment of a series of ideas I have been playing around with lately. Monochrome Mondays! I have decided to alternate Mondays with something else…. So you will have to stay tuned for the next instalment!

As I said in my previous post, not entirely new ideas as a whole but definitely new to my blog. They’re more of goals I have set for myself and my blog in order to bring more outfits to you, my readers!

Black and white being a go-to colour scheme of mine without even realising it sometimes, I thought “hey! Why not share my monochromatic outfits on my blog?”. It’s just a really simple and basic colour scheme suited for any occasion and time of day or season really. 

I had gotten my skirt as a birthday gift last year and decided to do an outfit post with it. We are still in that transition phase between seasons where I like to wear shorts on the bottom, something long on top and boots.

As the days are getting chillier, and the sun is becoming weaker, I decided to pair it with a long sleeve collared white shite from Mr Price. A collared white shirt is a basic and a MUST in every closet! It can be worn casually or in a more structured way. 

 

I feel as if a hat is a must for the upcoming winter months. They are an accessory that can spritz up any outfit! And it will definitely come in handy for any bad hair days this winter! I paired this look with my Cotton On hat and ankle boots, I feel it broke the structured look of the outfit by bringing a bit of a casual-boho look to it.

Fashion Fridays!

I have decided to start a series called Fashion Fridays! Yes!!! You know what that means right? That every Friday I will be posting an outfit! J I have been playing around with some ideas lately, kind of like setting goals for myself and my blog. With varsity being so hectic and demanding, I have been struggling to balance everything and keep being consistent on my blog. Which I feel is really unfair to you guys! 

Okay, now onto the other juicy bits… my outfit! If you have seen and read some of my other posts, you will see how much I love a good jumpsuit because (and you’ve guessed it!) it’s so versatile and an instant outfit without the hassle! 

I love this particular one because it can be dressed up for a formal event or down for casual drinks. The material makes it really versatile and easy to wear it either way. The colour is a bright cobalt blue which also helps with its versatility. And it was even better because it looks very similar to the jumpsuits that were being sold at Truworths, but for the fraction of the price! Who doesn’t love a good bargain right? I know for one I definitely won’t turn that down!

I kept it quite day time appropriate with my heeled sandals and a sling handbag.

If I wanted to change this into a formal outfit for a formal evening event, I would easily just swap out the shoes for some court heels and a clutch. And voila! Two outfits with one item of clothing!

Graduation! Conquering the WITS Edge!

 I know I have been gone for a while, it’s been a hectic couple of weeks with tests and graduation. But I’m back now and that’s all that counts :p. Today I wanted to share my graduation experience and outfit with you because…well… I just wanted to share my excitement and accomplishments with you!

I think every student dreams of this day, and when it finally arrived for me the excitement just took over! Starting with shopping for my graduation dress! I had been looking for the perfect dress since results came out last year! And had not found anything that grabbed my attention, until about three weeks before my graduation. I was looking for a dress that wasn’t too short (it’s a graduation, I had to look classy) and not too long either (I didn’t want to look like a granny haha), so just above my knee was the perfect length. And I knew I didn’t want to wear black, it had to be bright (like my future). For me, because I had been waiting for this day to arrive, I wanted it to be perfect and symbolic in a sense. 

I spotted my dress when I walked into the Topshop end of season sale. Hanging there, white and silver, it was the only thing I saw like a ring of light had been dancing surrounding it and blurred my vision from the rest of the items around it.There were so many hanging on the rail, but only a few in my size. So I grabbed it, quickly inspected it for any hooks or imperfections and went to try it on. The perfect fit, length and colour! It was EXACTLY what I had in mind! With my new Zara heels, I knew it would look amazing together! What a stress relief! Outfit done!

When “the big day” arrived, everything kind of went off as planned. Without a hitch. The ceremony went by so quickly and before I knew it, I was being called up on stage, capped, and handed my scroll. Standing up there with a huge smile on my face was definitely my proudest moment! Every sacrifice, tear, sleepless night was all worth it to bring me to that moment! And it was all thanks to my most wonderful parents, brother and boyfriend for all their amazing and unwavering support throughout the years! All of this not being possible without them! 

Its been a long road to graduation and it hasn’t been an easy one, but I can finally say that I am a WITS graduate and that I have conquered the edge! The journey to this day has definitely been a memorable one where I have met and come across some extremely influential people, met some of my closest friends and have definitely learnt so much through the experience. I don’t think I would change a thing because through each experience, downfall and uplifting moment, I have learnt something and overcome many obstacles. I know in myself, that I have definitely become a much stronger and more confident person. I know through perseverance, you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to! Never give up! And suffice to say, nothing and nobody can ever take that away from me.
