Casual Chic.

Shirt, Jeans & Heels - Mr Price | Handbag - Colette by Colette Hayman |
Hat – Factorie | Watch – Michael Kors

I have been feeling a little under the weather lately. I think with exams around the corner and the climate fluctuating, it hasn’t really helped either.

So this week I opted to wear something that will help uplift my spirits. I find that when you dress well, and put some effort into how you look (especially when you’re not feeling all that well), it helps to make yourself feel better. Even though you may not feel 100%, at least you look 100% and put together! And that in turn will help to make you feel much better!

Today I opted to wear something blue, but still casual. The colour blue is associated with a relaxed and confident feeling. Something about it is quite calming to the eyes. So because I wasn’t feeling all that energetic, I needed something calming and soothing but still something to lift my spirits.

I love this combo together, white and a light chambray denim shirt, mixed in with some neutrals. I felt that it was a very minimal, casual chic outfit.

A Vote Of Confidence.

Top, Heels & Necklace - Mr Price | Jeans - Forever 21 |
Trench Coat & Handbag – Forever New |
Watch – Michael Kors

During the week, I had some thoughts. I thought about where it is I wanted my blog to go? I know I started it off as a hobby, because I love fashion, mixing and matching items of clothing to create looks and have been following various local and international fashion bloggers for some time now. But I also wondered perhaps it’s too generic? What’s the point of having something like this but it appears meaningless? And then I thought, I am privileged enough to have the opportunity to have a blog so why not use it as a platform to inspire, support and uplift women through fashion? Give my blog a little more meaning because I have a voice so why not share it?

I have always been one to dress according to my mood, so I thought instead of only sharing the outfits I have created and put together, why not also share how it inspires me and gives me confidence and hopefully it could do the same for many other ladies out there!

Today I chose to wear this all black outfit. I decided on the colour black because it is a very strong colour that has a certain presence about it. Technically it is the absence of colour, but on its own, the colour black is mysterious and fascinating. To many people (and even cultures) black holds a very negative connotation. But I prefer to look at the positives in life so to me the colour black stands for strength, power, elegance and sophistication.

How many of us reach for something black when we want to cover up those extra few kilograms we put on from eating that one too many chocolate bars? I know for one I do! It hides imperfections and gives certain areas an illusion of either being there or not being there. It is a colour that makes one feel sexy without even trying!

So I opted for an all black outfit with a touch of nude and gold accents. This outfit, though simple, made me feel powerful and confident. It was bold without trying to be and spoke for itself. With the open trench coat and a popped collar I felt that I could take on the world!

It is a firm motto of mine that if you look and feel confident, everything you do that day will scream confidence and success! So it all starts with you! And how you see yourself! Because whatever you put out there is what you will receive back!
